Who Is Joe Gruters? Trump backs Florida republican for RNC chair


President Donald Trump has endorsed Florida state Sen. Joe Gruters to lead the Republican National Committee, as current RNC Chair Michael Whatley prepares to launch a Senate bid in North Carolina. A longtime Trump ally, Gruters has served in the Florida Senate since 2018 and was appointed RNC treasurer earlier this year.

In a Truth Social post, he began by praising Whatley, as Trump wrote, “He is fantastic at everything he does, and he was certainly great at the RNC where, in the Presidential Election, we won every Swing State, the Popular Vote, and the Electoral College by a landslide!”

He then revealed in his post, “Fortunately, I have somebody who will do a wonderful job as the Chairman of the RNC. His name is, Joe Gruters, and he will have my Complete and Total Endorsement. So, should Michael Whatley run for the Senate, please let this notification represent my Complete and Total Endorsement.”

About Florida Senator Joe Gruters

According to his LinkedIn profile, Gruters holds a BS degree from Florida State University and an MBA from the University of South Florida. He has also been a member of the University of South Florida’s Community Leadership Council.

Gruters is a Certified Public Accountant and partner at Robinson, Gruters & Roberts, CPA, where he has worked since 2015. Based in Sarasota, Florida, he has nearly a decade of experience running his own consultancy and tax practice.

Gruters has served in the Florida Senate since 2018, where he represented the Republican Party. During his time in the office, he has held key roles including Chair of the Commerce and Tourism Committee and Vice Chair of the Finance and Tax Committee. According to his LinkedIn profile, he also served on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Criminal and Civil Justice, the Banking and Insurance Committee, and the Joint Committee on Public Counsel Oversight. Previously, he served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2018.
