Karnataka 2nd PUC 2025 (Exam 2): The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has reported a significant turnout for the Karnataka 2nd PUC Exam 2, scheduled from April 24 to May 8, 2025, with 2.27 lakh candidates registering. This follows the Exam 1 results announced on April 8, 2025, which saw 7.13 lakh students participate, achieving a pass percentage of 73.45%.
In a move to promote inclusivity, KSEAB has exempted female students across all categories and male students from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Category-1 groups from paying examination fees for Exam 2 and Exam 3. This initiative has encouraged greater participation, particularly among students aiming to improve their scores or clear failed subjects, with 1.57 lakh repeaters and 70,000 students seeking score enhancement.
Surge in registrations
The three-exam system, introduced to provide multiple opportunities, has gained traction. Minister for School Education and Literacy, Madhu Bangarappa, noted a rise from 42,000 students reappearing for improvement in 2024 to 70,000 in 2025, reflecting awareness of the system’s benefits for competitive exams like CET. The exams, conducted across 1,171 centres, cater to Science, Commerce, and Arts streams, with 2.9 lakh, 2.2 lakh, and 1.9 lakh students respectively in Exam 1.
Fee exemption policy
The fee waiver, previously requiring Rs 270–400, has removed financial barriers, particularly for underprivileged groups. This aligns with incentives like Rs 25 lakh one-time aid for SC students scoring above 95% and securing MBBS seats via NEET. The policy has been praised for fostering educational equity, with female candidates (3.78 lakh in Exam 1) benefiting significantly.
