Delhi Capitals batter Karun Nair apologised to the franchise’s co-owner Parth Jindal on social media on Friday. The 33-year-old replied to a April 14 post by Jindal in which he spoke about the heartbreaks suffered by his teams in Indian Super League (ISL) and Indian Premier League (IPL).
In the post, Jindal wrote, “Not the greatest of weekends for us – losing the ISL Cup finals after being the better team and then losing to MI when in control however got to watch the most brilliant knock by Karun Nair – don’t think iv [I’ve] seen anyone play better against [Jasprit] Bumrah. these type of weekends make you realise how in sport nothing is certain – we will work harder and be back stronger,” he wrote on April 14.

In reply on Friday, Nair wrote, “Thank you so much Parth🙏🏼❤️ sorry I couldn’t finish the game off🙏🏼”
Jindal, founder of JSW Sports which runs Indian Super League club Bengaluru FC and IPL franchise Delhi Capitals, witnessed both of his teams suffer defeats in dramatic fashion this week.
At the Salt Lake Stadium on April 12, Bengaluru FC lost 1-2 to Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the ISL Final. Jamie Maclaren scored the winner in the sixth minute of extra time to shatter Bengaluru’s hopes of a title.
A day later, DC were second best to Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Batting first, MI scored 205/5 thanks to Tilak Varma’s 59 runs from 33 balls, Ryan Rickelton’s 41 from 25 balls and a cameo from Naman Dhir (38 from 17 balls).
In reply, DC were stopped short on 193 all out, losing by 12 runs, with Nair the star of the night. The DC batter, who was playing his first match since IPL 2022, smashed 89 runs from 40 balls in a stellar display.

One of the standout aspects of Nair’s inning was his onslaught against Jasprit Bumrah. In the first bowler against arguably the best bowler in the world, Nair struck two boundaries. He upped the ante in the next over, smashing two sixes and a boundary in an over that fetched 18 runs.
