IIM Visakhapatnam launches HP Elevate training for HPCL officers

VISAKHAPATNAM: Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam launched the ‘HP Elevate’ training series for officers of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). According to IIMV officials, a total of 18 batches will be conducted, benefiting 580 officials from the Visakh refinery of HPCL. IIMV director Prof M Chandrasekhar said that the HP ELEVATE training programme aims to enhance officers’ personal and professional competencies through focused sessions on self-awareness, communication, leadership, and ethics. “This programme equips participants with essential skills for high performance, fostering confident, resilient, and ethically driven officers capable of impactful leadership in public service,” said Prof Chandrasekhar.Prof. M.V. Anuradha, program director, presented a comprehensive overview of the programme structure, outlining the key topics that would be covered during the course.G. Kiran Kumar, chief general manager – HR, HPCL, graced the occasion as a guest of honour. He underscored the growing significance of networking in today’s competitive and fast-paced professional world. He noted that cultivating meaningful connections and fostering collaboration not only accelerates personal growth but also fuels innovation and enhances organizational effectiveness.Abhishek Trivedi, executive director, Visakh Refinery Modernization Project (VRMP), HPCL, graced the event as the chief guest and delivered the keynote address. He drew attention to the essential distinction between technical competence and managerial responsibility, emphasising that while technical skills are foundational, transitioning into a managerial role requires greater strategic vision, accountability, and leadership ability. He also spoke about the importance of values such as ethics, discipline, and accountability, stating that these are critical to driving organisational excellence and positioning HPCL as a leader in the industry.IIMV director Prof M Chandrasekhar congratulated HPCL on its remarkable achievements and steady growth across key dimensions. He highlighted the vital role of management professionals in shaping organisational success.
