Today, Mohammed Shami turned 35. One of India’s finest fast bowlers, Shami has been the backbone of the team’s pace attack for more than a decade. With over 450 wickets across formats, he has been at the heart of some of India’s biggest triumphs, from memorable World Cup wins to historic overseas Test victories. His success on the field has translated into an impressive financial portfolio. Shami’s net worth is estimated to range between ₹55 and ₹65 crore ($7–8 million). A large chunk of this comes from cricketing contracts. As a Grade A BCCI player, he earns a ₹5 crore annual retainer, along with ₹15 lakh per Test, ₹6 lakh per ODI and ₹3 lakh per T20I in match fees. The Indian Premier League has been another big source of revenue for Shami. From starting at just ₹10 lakh in his debut season, his IPL graph has been a steady climb. In the IPL 2025, Sunrisers Hyderabad signed him for a whopping ₹10 crore, a deal that reflects his status as an elite fast bowler. Over the years, his total IPL earnings have crossed ₹50 crore, making him one of the league’s most valued pacers. Endorsements add another layer to his income. Shami has been associated with brands such as Nike, Puma, Ceat Tyres, SS, Blitzpools, Vision11, OctaFX, and Hell Energy. He reportedly charges close to ₹1 crore per brand, contributing another ₹2–3 crore annually.

Do you think Shami can make a strong comeback to international cricket?

Beyond cricket, Shami has invested in real estate. He owns a luxurious farmhouse in Amroha, valued at ₹12–15 crore, and drives an enviable fleet of cars that includes a BMW 5 Series, Jaguar F-Type, Audi and Toyota Fortuner. Yet, his personal life has often mirrored the intensity of his cricketing career. His high-profile split with Hasin Jahan continues to draw attention, especially due to significant alimony payments. Reports suggest that over the years, he has paid around ₹3.36 crore in retrospective dues, with ₹1.5 lakh a month going to his ex-wife and ₹2.5 lakh a month for his daughter. However, in recent times, Shami has struggled with nagging injuries that have kept him away from international cricket. His last appearance for India came in the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand, and currently, he is not part of the Asia Cup squad. Even as he works towards regaining full fitness, his stature as one of India’s finest fast bowlers remains unquestioned.
