NEW DELHI: Former New Zealand batter Ross Taylor on Friday said the omission of Shreyas Iyer from India’s squad for the upcoming Asia Cup underlined the incredible depth in the country’s T20 esources.Iyer, who enjoyed a strong domestic season and guided Punjab Kings to the IPL 2025 final, was left out of the 15-member squad as well as five reserve names announced earlier this week.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. (But) when you can leave that type of quality out, you’ve got to be pretty comfortable with the depth of your squad,” Taylor told PTI Videos on the sidelines of the CLT10 League.The former Kiwi great also praised India’s new Test captain Shubman Gill, who recently led his side to a 2-2 draw against England in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. “It was a great series against England. Whenever you go into foreign conditions in Test cricket, especially these days, you have to take it very well. He has played in great spirits and led from the front,” Taylor said.

Taylor will feature for the Supreme Stallions in the CLT10 League, calling it a nostalgic moment. “It has gone full circle — started playing with the tennis ball and now finishing my career playing with the tennis ball. It’s a great concept,” he remarked.He added that the 10-over format offered younger players a platform: “The way these players express themselves, it is an opportunity to showcase their talent. As the tournament goes on, we will get to know them even more.”
