A potentially armed, suicidal individual reportedly fired shots at an apartment in Batavia, Illinois, according to Kane & DuPage County Scanner. The incident occurred on Saturday in the 1200 block of East Wilson Street.
Initial reports indicate that children may have been inside the apartment with the suspect at the time.
Both the Batavia Police Department and Batavia Fire Department responded to the scene.
In a Facebook post, Batavia police stated, “Police activity in the 1200 block of E. Wilson St. Citizens are encouraged to avoid the area until the situation is resolved.”

Witness reports
Several witnesses and local residents took to Facebook to share their accounts of the incident.
One person reported, “Several police officers from surrounding towns are now there to assist as well as the county. Avoid Wilson street. I was driving back home and it was chaos going.”
Another wrote, “OMG, so many cop cars flying there! I couldn’t believe I saw so many! I was wondering what was happening.”
A third person added, “Wilson St is blocked off at Kirk Rd. Just drove past there a few minutes ago.”
Another person reported, “Kane County Swat Team flew across the median at Faybyan and Randall. I dodged it.”
Another added, “Just saw a bunch of sheriffs flying down Keslinger and we were wondering what happened.”

Road closure
Authorities have closed Wilson Street between Kirk Road and Raddant Road as the investigation continues. They emphasized that there is no threat to public safety but urged residents to stay clear of the area.
