In a bizarre moment during the second T20I between Australia and South Africa in Darwin on Tuesday, Corbin Bosch hit Mitchell Owen’s stumps, but the bail refused to fall despite being dislodged. The incident occurred on the second ball of the 13th over of Australia’s innings. Bosch delivered a full and quick ball on off stump, with Owen trying to go hard at it but missing completely. The delivery grazed the outside of the off stump, lighting up the bails. One bail even lobbed up in the air slightly but astonishingly landed back perfectly in its groove, leaving Owen at the crease. While the moment left players and fans stunned, it did not change the eventual outcome. South Africa went on to win the match by 53 runs to level the three-match series 1-1. Dewald Brevis was the star of the night, smashing South Africa’s highest individual T20 score through an unbeaten 125 off 56 balls to lead his side to 218-7. Australia’s reply faltered early with the dismissals of Travis Head (5) and Cameron Green (9). Tim David, promoted to number four, threatened with a 24-ball 50, but his dismissal to Kagiso Rabada ended their hopes. Bosch and Kwena Maphaka took three wickets each as Australia were bowled out for 165 in the 18th over.
